Hi I'm very new here I'm only 19 and i live with my boyfriend in Ganserndorf. I know some of my boyfriends friends but i want to make more friends. I feel a little bit isolated here but i start a German course in Víenna next week so I'm hoping I will meet some people then.

I come from a town called Aldershot in England which is about an hour south from London. Ganserndorf is about 40 minutes north east from Vienna. GanserndÖrf is a quiet town and theres not much to do here. I'm often in Vienna as my boyfriends friends and family live there. I haven't really done anything on my own since being here, I spend a lot of time with my boyfriend and I would like to go out and see different places on my own. does anyone have any places they recommend i visit?

I guess you're an au pair?
At this time of the year, there are not that many great places to visit anymore. The weather is getting too bad.
But ofcourse all the Xmas markets are worth it (there is a thread with info under 'what's up in vienna'), you could go to the museums, although I don't knwo if you would enjoy them on your own.
The zoo at schönbrunn, the aquarium close to the mariahilferstrasse, the english cinemas...
it all depends on what you like to do..

This bunch is CRAZY get away while you still can!!!!!!
No only messing with you, this is a great place to meet friends. The people on this site are a laugh (with alcohol or without alcohol) there is always something happening, and it's usually quite loud (to quote Madness).

I am in the same boat as you. I live with my boyfriend in Retz about an 1 hour away from Vienna. I have no work at the mo either as we moved for my boyfriends work. So there are a few boring days.
I am really enjoying it here and love Retz, we have bought a house which we are renovating. Hope you are enjoying Austria too?
How's your German?
Do you miss England? I only miss the shopping at the mo! hehe
