Singaporean Food
Home Sickness strikes again .
In a huge Major way.
Does anyone know of a typical Sinagporean restaurant?
And I don't mean just Asian (chinese stirfries), eg: QuickLee, or the normal Chinese Restaurant (although they do help with the homesickness)
I mean REEEAAALLL Singaporean Food.
This may be a bit of a tricky question, for those who don't really know what the typical Singaporean dishes are....
Chilli Crab
Lontong
Nasi Lemak, Nasi Bryani
Mee Rebus
Roti Prata....
but thought there might be a Singaporean or Malaysian in Vienna out there who may know.
I'll treat you to dinner if you you find any of these dishes... dead serious.

I have not found any indonesian or malaysian restaurants yet in Vienna.
At the UN bazaar this year I asked at the Indonesian stand, and they said a restaurant would be opened, but they couldn't give me the name or location (and then I drank too much belgian beer and forgot to ask for more details).
I know one in madrid. Or you can come to holland with me.
But maybe someone can enlighten us and tell us I am wrong.

Re: Singaporean Food
Believe it or not there's actually a small food outlet run by Malaysians (Cantonese) in Millenium City at Handelskai. It's not Newton Circus but the nasi lemak was not half bad (it had the sambal, ikan bilis and they made a decent effort with the rice). Looks like the place also gets the bumiputra stamp of approval; when I was there, seated at two other tables were peeps from the motherland. Don't think they did prata, or nasi bryani (there are a couple of good south indian places in Vienna that do this well), but had things like mee goreng and laksa I believe.
Best of luck trying to find good chilli crab anywhere apart from the restaurants off East Coast Parkway in S'pore..... OMG I LOVE the fried buns that comes with it for mopping up the leftover sauce!
OK.... now I'm making MYSELF homesick.
Last thing..... you're from/grew up in Singapore?!
Tanglin, Dover Court, UWC, ISS, SAS?

Silvia, will think of you next week whilst visiting my favorite Singaporean eatery - the proprietor sucks like a mollusk but the food is divine - will try everything on the menu...just for you! ( grab salt....rub wound!
