Brand new Indian restaurant
I just came back from a brand new Indian restaurant (opened on 31 August)!
It was excellent! Authentic, not too creamy, fresh, spicy but not too hot, lots of fresh herbs, no stupid cover charge, nice china! Friendly and efficient staff that speaks English! Really good!
I had an Indian friend with me and she confirms this is the real thing! She even found a few dishes other restaurants in Vienna don't have. The manager told us they make everything fresh in the morning even baked goods. They do not reheat anything.
More info: Nirvana. The menu is much more eleborate than what is on the website at the moment. They do lunch menus as well.
It was quite full so best to reserve. The restaurant is in a mini-gallery (big terras with glass roof) off Rotenturmstrasse.

Mmmmmmmmmm, now I'm craving Indian food! Maybe we should organise a 1st district lunch there sometime in the next 2 and a half weeks?

Re: Brand new Indian restaurant
I added it under Italian because I could not create a new category and there used to be an Italian restaurant there...
Opening hours are actually from 11:30 till 14:30 for the first period but the list did not have the 30 minutes.
I put it as moderate although it is expensive but not over the top for Indian food since all the Indian food here is expensive. And they have no cover charge.
You (i.e. restaurant guide moderator) can adapt to your heart's content.
The restaurant guide is great, thanks for pointing it out to me, I will probably be commenting quite a bit because I love food. Whoever entered Sababa deserves applause! I was there today and their pita's (without onions!) + their home made chips/fries are really yummy!

Re: Brand new Indian restaurant
we went there last weekend and the food is great BUT - if you're hungry and want your food on the table quick this place is not for you as they cook everything from scratch (which is of course a good thing)
the menu is not as extensive as for example koh-i-noor's one (our usual indian) but what they have tastes yummy

When in charge ponder. When in trouble delegate. When in doubt mumble. When asked to clarify, say "Trust me".

True, they were not fast with us either. But the food was so yummy, I forgot. And we got a free mango lassi + pappadum.
By the way, did they have dips for the pappadums now? I like the dips you get at Indian Village best. I noticed that they have a lunch buffet now, so I must go there again!
