best mexican to my mind: tin-tan in Florianigasse (8th). strange no one has mentioned that yet. loads of cocktails too. they do have a new chef though and I have to eat through the whole menu again to give a definite verdict

italian with the best "preis-leistungs-verhaeltnis" (=value for money?): 'I ragazzi' in Burggasse 6 (7th). run by a couple of young italians. fantastic food for little money. great atmosphere. one of my absolute favourites. has been 'discovered' though, so you might want to make a reservation.
