Eulennest - Vinothek

The Eulennest specialises in Austrian wines - there are some 200 wines available by the bottle - with a few other foreign wines. The Vinothek, which is located on the Himmelpfortgasse close to the Finance Ministry is cosy and pleasantly decorated - it has a vaulted ceiling and mediterranean style décor with small tables with high stools in the front and some lower tables at the back. Bottle prices start at EUR 15 a bottle - rising to the EUR 40-50 range. The bar was relatively quiet, considering it was a Friday night, although this is also quite pleasant. They have a lot of prosciutto and cheese platters to choose from as an accompaniment to the wine although I didn't sample these. The staff were friendly and helpful - the Morillon they recommended was very drinkable.

I have been to Eulennest very often, great place. The cheese platters are great and the pasta dishes also. If i am not mistaken the food is only pasta dishes, as its really a wine bar. Wines are always excellent and very friendly service. I have never noticed it to be overly crowded, but also not too quiet, a happy medium.
