I believe she is serious. North Dakota in general, everyone uses a car. In Fargo I believe they have a very limited bus system. In most areas of the US I have been to, public transportation is considered a "bad" thing, same with public housing etc. Here public transportation, housing etc is quite good and a pleasant experience.
So I will say Chandra is a non-Troll.

capnNismo- What is trolling? Snowdog is right. There is pretty much non-exsistant public transportation in Fargo. No subway and no decent bus transit. The city is really spread out so nearly impossible to walk anywhere (and too cold). I have never lived in a big city. In ND it is assumed you are too poor to own a car and that is why you would take the bus. I don't want to start anyone ranting at me, I am just telling you. I know I am a long way from home and I want to embrace all of these new experiences (although a little frightening). I am thankful for the information provided on the forum.
sownd fx- not all golfs are shitty but the ones way out here in North 22nd have seen better days...if I buy one I would get one with some dings.

Once you get used to public transport you will never look back. Trust me, you will be laughing at those fools stressing out in traffic and trying to find parking spots.

Chanda, you will do okay. I cannot explain Trolling, I will leave that for the more Internet literate of the group. Goggling it may be a good idea.

CapnNismo- thanks for the info. This is the first forum I have ever really been on. I usually just stick to Facebook. I am not a troll, I promise.

You'll be needing to learn to use public transport if you really want to get around the city in a timely and efficient manner. Learning when to walk between stations also helps.

Yup.
Step One: Getting onto public transport becomes the norm.
Step Two: Transit optimization: Knowing which stations to transfer at, as second nature, knowing which routes go approximately where.
Step Three: Transition optimization: Knowing where to stand on the platform, so that when you get _off_ the conveyance, you'll be at the exit you need and won't have to walk all the way to the other end (ie, heading North on the U4, changing at Spittelau for the U6, you want to be at the head of the train).
Step Four: Someone says "How do I get to Xyz?" and you immediately know to answer which Oebb station, which Ubahn line, which Tram line, where you want to transfer, etc.
Step Five: The 13A.
