I just witnessed a hit and run.....
I got a little lost this evening in Vienna with a white van driver smashing into the back of another van.
The white van driver flatly denied he'd hit the blue van even though I saw him do so with my own eyes so I called the police and reported the problem.
Although they later called me back to ask for more details, and suggested I go to a station to make a report, how can I be sure they actually take action on this!?
I'm never sure with the police in Vienna as they never give me any paperwork as a proof of statement. This driver put a massive dent in the back of another car and as a car owner myself, I hope they get the white van driver and prosecute him for what he did. It will stop more cretins like him getting away with damaging other peoples property. (I've already got three large scratches on my car due to idiot drivers parking).

You can't be sure action is taken, but you did the right thing.

If you go to the police station and make a statement, then you do get documentation about it. I had something similar, and it turns out they had 3 other incidents in their database, and were working on it, and we were able to provide a few more details about the numberplate that they didnt have. They made the report in their database, got a print out, and i signed it, and I got a copy. Its worth reporting.
