Once again the Ö3 Wundertüte (lit: magic sack) is about to hit your mailbox - and you may also have already heard about it on the radio - Ö3 is once again trying to raise money for Caritas and Licht ins Dunkel using the Wundertüte, by getting people to recycle their old mobile phones. Each donated phone is worth EUR 3 for the charities, as well as helping you declutter your flats. Phones can be put in the bag with/without batteries and charging units, and they do say to remember to delete anything in the phone (numbers, pictures etc.) and to remove the SIM card. Then all you need to do is to drop the phone off in the envelope at your nearest post office or even simpler into the nearest post box. Currently apparently up to 85% of mobile phones are not recycled or returned to operators for disposal and recycling. Many just end up in drawers, boxes etc. so take a couple of minutes to see if you have a mobile that is not used any more and which can be donated. Further information (in German) is available at oe3.orf.at/wundertuete
